RUNNING 100KM FOR TRADIES MENTAL HEALTH
This May I’m taking on the challenge of running 100km in just two weeks to raise awareness for mental health in the trades and support two incredible organisations — Spark That Chat and Mates4Life.
The trades industry can be a tough environment where people often feel pressure to stay strong and keep pushing through, even when things aren’t okay.
Too often that means struggles go unnoticed and conversations don’t happen.
This challenge is about starting those conversations and reminding people they’re not alone.
Every donation helps support organisations working on the ground to improve mental health support across our workforce.
Kia ora! I'm Maggie Higgins
Plumbing apprentice, life lover, and mental health advocate.
As a woman working in the trades, I’ve faced plenty of challenges along the way. Early on I was told I was “wasting my life” and that there was no place for women in this industry.
But I proved them wrong.
Along the journey I’ve also seen how common mental health struggles can be — and how often people feel they have no one to talk to. Too many tradies are dealing with pressure, stress, and isolation without support.
That’s why starting the conversation matters.
A BIG THANK YOU TO OUR SPONSORS!
Your Donation Makes a Difference
Every dollar raised supports Spark That Chat and Mates4Life, two Hawke’s Bay organisations dedicated to suicide prevention and mental health support in our workforce.
