Our Vision and Mission
About Us
Mates4Life Hawke’s Bay (M4LHB) is a suicide awareness and prevention programme being delivered to workplaces and organisations across Hawke’s Bay (from Wairoa to Dannevirke).
The programme is delivered by the Mates of Hawke’s Bay Charitable Trust, a not for profit entity that enables it to be delivered at NO COST to the employer or organisation.
The aim of Mates4Life is to provide a long-term, sustainable, no barriers suicide awareness and prevention training approach that is specific to the needs of workplaces and communities within Hawke’s Bay that is;
Created by Hawke’s Bay people
Delivered by Hawke’s Bay people
For Hawke’s Bay people
While the programme is focused on preventing suicide, it can also help workplaces to reduce harm and increase health and safety for their employees. An employee who is not focused at work is a risk to both themselves and others.
By equipping staff with the skills to recognise that someone is not ok, employers are able to reduce the risk of a workplace incident.
By engaging workplaces and organisations in the region, our objective is to create a suicide-aware community. Upskilling people at work or within our organisations helps ensure the learnings are shared with friends, whanau and communities.
We believe it is time for Hawke’s Bay to grow ourselves locally to:
1.
Enable local suicide awareness and prevention solutions
2.
Create a database of local helpers
3.
Create a database of local Safety Supporters available to workplaces and organisations within the region
4.
As a region connect with other regions to share resources and empower each other to enable life-supporting communities throughout the country.
