be a part of a life-saving community
By equipping staff with the skills to recognise that someone is not ok, employers can reduce the risk of a workplace incident.
By engaging workplaces and organisations in the region, our objective is to create a suicide-aware community.
There were 31 suspected suicides in Hawke’s Bay in 2021, second only to 2019 when there were 38 recorded. Those two numbers are the highest they have been since 2009.
Workplaces are impacted by suicide, and we only need one intervention for the Mates4Life programme to be a success. If we can ensure that another workplace and a family home aren’t hit by the traumatic loss of a colleague or loved one, that’s our measure of success.
